The method, session by session
An hour of teaching at IHETC has a precise shape, and it is the same across every programme. Knowing it before you enrol tells you what you will do with your time, week after week.
How a session runs
Five stages, always in this order. The sequence is fixed because it carries the learning: order is what separates attending a course from being able to do the work.

The situation first
A session opens on a field case to handle, not on a definition. From the first minute you know what the learning is for.

The input, tightened
Exactly what is needed to handle the case, and nothing beyond. Deeper material is flagged and kept separate.

Guided practice
You repeat the operation on a variant, with the tutor available to question your reasoning at each step.
- 04
Independent production
A piece to deliver, alone, on a fresh case. It is what gets marked and what feeds your competency record.

Named feedback
A signed correction, stating what is now held and what remains to work on before the next session.
The twenty-five-hour rule
The official catalogue sets one single equivalence, valid across every programme: one credit equals 25 hours of work, of which 10 are supervised. Every study volume published on this site descends from that rule, and it is the first thing an equivalence office recomputes. It also lets you size your week before committing.

Assessment covers what you produce
A competency is demonstrated on a piece of work, not on a ticked box. Every assessment therefore asks for a deliverable comparable to what the job requires, and marking applies the same criteria an employer would.

What you work each week
The figure shown is actual work: reading, exercises, submitted production. It counts neither connection time nor video runtime. Choose your pace on that line.

Questions about the method
Can the content change while I am on the programme?
A course is frozen for the duration of its session. Two people enrolled together receive exactly the same teaching: that is the condition for their results to be comparable and for assessment to keep its worth. Improvements apply to the following session.
What happens if I fall behind one week?
Content stays permanently open and you resume at the exact point you left off. Deliverables carry dates you know from day one; a postponement is requested from your cohort lead, who answers in writing.
Are there collective sessions?
Yes: live sessions with the teacher, group work on a shared case, peer review of submitted work, and meet-ups set in the semester calendar. They are included in the supervised-hours figure stated on every course page.
